Beyond the Stars
The Beyond the Stars Releasing Writers-inspired unit features a series of journal entries on how different objects in space emit or reflect light, while connecting writing to the Ontario Grade 6 Science curriculum. In the accompanying syntax lesson (found in the Instructional Slide Deck for structured writing), students practise adverbial clauses and syntactical flexibility. Science and syntax are brought together through a Star Wars-themed mentor text, because even Jedi need strong sentences.
